Cablemate for Steam Deck

At first, I initially though this would only hold the power cable, but when I realized it held the kickstand too, I definitely wanted it! So glad I got it! It fits perfectly in the back of the Steam Deck case and keeps me from losing my kickstand as well! Love it!

Works great with the original came buy the OLED cable is about 50% longer.
You need to think outside the box and wrap the cable around the power brick for a good fit.

The steam deck oled cable is too long for the cablemate. If the retaining walls were larger and also included on both ends then it might work better but as-is it's pretty hard to get it to work.

Like what the headline says, let's me neatly bundle up the charger for the Steam Deck. One thing to note though is this is clearly designed for the LCD Steam Deck's charger. It can fit the OLED Steam Deck's charger but you'll have to be tighter with the cable itself. The OLED Steam Deck's charger is longer than the original. One improvement I can think of is make the center cavity smaller and have the shroud around it be bigger. This should let the cable be more secure or fit the longer charger.

This product is fantastic. It fulfills all my requirements perfectly.

Holds cable. Kickstand 2.0 doesn’t fit flush.

Great productand very handy. Only 4 stars because I wish the charging block would snap into the cable mate securely instead of being loose. Also notching the kickstand or changing the plastic ramps on the back so the kickstand would sit more flat would be ideal

Convenient and easy to carry

Very useful for bringing the charger in the standard deck case! since I bought a bundle with the kickstand I really appreciate the ability to latch on too. One quibble - I think the height of where the cable is wrapped could be increased just a smidge to enhance wrap-ability as sometimes my cord starts slipping

Does exactly what it says it will, gathers up the charger quite nicely.

I bought this mainly for the discount for adding three items... but maybe I should have saved my money. The fact that this product hasn't been updated for the longer OLED power cable boggles my mind. Wrapping the cord is a struggle because 1) there just isn't enough room for 2.5m of cable (no matter how "carefully" you wrap it), 2) that damn band just keeps getting in the way unless you bend it back completely and hold it but I'm afraid it'll one day pop out and 3) once you sort of have the cabled wrapped the band is stretched out beyond its capabilities and is barely holding on. Also, the thinnest part of the design where the "legs" and "the body" are attached seems rather flimsy; it will be the first failure point for sure. Overall, pretty disappointed and I'll look for a 3D printed design that's out there or just design one myself. Or just wrap it up like normal and chuck it into my tech pouch/sling bag.

I mostly got this to round out a bundle. I have a 3D printed box-thing that I found online and printed out that holds the stock charger and a small pill box I modified to hold micro SD cards that actually fits into the stock Steam Deck case better than this does. The issue is the piece that cups the back of the charger - it's wide and thick enough it bulges out noticeably. Not enough to cause issues, it's just not as sleek.

The extra micro SD slots are handy, and it's MUCH easier to use than the box-thing I had previously, particularly in tight, dark places like a commercial airplane. While you can mount an extra accessory to it, doing so makes it bulge out SIGNIFICANTLY in the case so I don't feel that's a very useful feature.

This is probably 95% just personal preference. People with different applications or needs will undoubtedly find it very helpful.

So, I love the product and the customer support for an issue with another product was top notch. That being said, they definitely need to rethink the elastic band / notch combination for securing the wire, as well as the actual size of the spool. What ends up happening is that the elastic band feels like it is fighting for dear life, even when you've wrapped the cord rather carefully. If either the elastic band was slightly longer, or the notch protruded a bit more, this would be mitigated. The wire itself needs a slightly taller spool to make the actual winding narrower. I think both this and the aforementioned suggestion would be ideal.

Edit - Apparently, this issue is unique to the OLED model. So if you've got a LCD model charger you should be ok.

That being said, its really solidly constructed. I've gotten 5 or 6 things from them and all of them are super high quality. I don't know what this company does specifically as far as their printing process, but it works really well.

Great build quality, fits in the case puch no problem sits in the elastic band pocket perfectly. I highly recommend this item.

Sometimes hard to wrap the whole cable but its definitely useful and saves space!

Great product. Does not fit under the elastic band as advertised. It was only tested on US chargers and does not fit with EU chargers. I notified the company and they updated the page with this information. 5 stars for this, 1 star since it did not work. No point in returning it due to high cost of shipping. No real fault of anyone and Mechanism is a great company.

Cool product in concept, but would like to see it be a little more secure. It would be great for the charger to snap in and hold in place, but as it stands, if the cable isn't currently wrapped up in it, the Cablemate kind of just floats.

There should be something better to hold charge in place while trying to wounding up the cord and secure it in place the cord pops out in places and it need some kind of support to keep the cord in place

It's a good concept and the rubber band does a great job of getting the kickstand + cable together into a steam deck case storage spot.

However, it's simply a pain to wrap. The charger slots loosely into the device when it should have had some grip or method of soft locking it in place to hold the cable mount steady. Likewise, the upper half is missing the wings needed to get those first few cable wraps clean. This isn't a big deal if you are using it at home or with a bit of time to get it right, but it's miserable when you are rushed or on the go (e.g. travelling, disembarking plane)

Item is too small for the cable I own, doesn’t fit like I expected it to

It does what it says, but I found the cable difficult to wind. I practically need a third hand to hold the rubber tie at an angle that allows me to wind the cable, and even then it feels as if there's not enough room on the spool. Once it's wound, though, it fits perfectly under the strap on my Deck's case. 5 stars for the fit, but docking two for how hard it is to wind the cable on the spool.

For some reason I thought it would pull and retract like a tape measure to coil the entire cord every time, but for just holding the excess it is very good.

This makes it possible to keep the cable nice and organized without putting torque on the part where it connects to the base. It fits in the cubby of the steamdeck case.

No more awkward wrapping of the Steam Deck charger and trying to tuck it into the little handle on the back. This manages the cables very effectively and fits perfectly into the Steam Deck carrying case.
