Arrived bent and the control couldn't make the connection to the puck to charge. There was no protection whatsoever to keep this from happening during shipping, but I don't see how this happened during shipping. There was nothing I could reasonably think could have bent it while it was in the box so i must've been bent prior to shipping.
Sorry you got a defective Dock! Thats definitely not how we expect them to arrive. If you shoot me over a message on the website, I'm happy to send a replacement your way.
Not only is this dock probably the highest quality one out there, it's not lot more than some of the 3D printed docks.
So far, this is the only one I've tried that is somewhat case friendly. I have a half shell bumper case on mine and the controller won't charge on any of the docks I've tried, until this one. I do need to pull the handles forward a couple of millimeters in order to engage the puck, but the magnets still keep the controller in place pretty well.
I love that the cable plugs in the back out of the way too.

This is the perfect solution for displaying and charging the new Steam Controller. It's well designed, well made, and very sturdy. I was originally looking at 3D printed solutions, but this blows them away.
The controller puck is held in place with the USB-C tip, and the cable connects to the bottom. The Steam Controller magnets are STRONG, but if you lift the controller from the bottom, it will come off without taking the base with it.
I know Mechanism is known for their mounting system, but I personally do not use any of that, and this controller dock works perfectly standalone.
Highly recommended for any Steam Controller owner.
The first one I got was a dud. It happens, no biggie. Customer service quickly sent a new one out to me. Told me to keep the old one and tinker with it if I wanted to get it working. I couldn't but I gave it a shot. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better experience all things considered. Got to see how the sausage is made and got a working dock. BTW, it's awesome and I would HIGHLY recommend it!
I felt that how the Steam Controller came packaged with just a magnetic dongle was rather odd. I wanted there to be something better for charging my Steam Controller. The Mechanism stand takes what we were given and made something that does what I would expect for a charging stand. It is simple, beautiful, matches the aesthetic of the Steam Controller/Machine and elegantly easy to set up and functional. I love how it displays the controller. The way you attach/detach the controller is also so easy and feels nice.
This stand I consider one of the required accessories and I am very happy with it.
I was debating ordering or printing myself but ended up buying since the included cable and superior material looked well worth the price.
International shipping was almost as much as the product but delivery was very quick and made up for it.
The dock is very sturdy and now has a permanent place beneath my monitor.
While weighted it still rocks if the controller is picked up from the top. Not falling over but a little more weight would have made it perfect.
I have been wanting a solution to clean up the area where I place my Steam Controller and Mechanism came through PERFECTLY! The fit and finish of the Dock is beautiful! It has such a nice weight to it as well. I would recommend this to anyone with a Steam Controller.

The fit and finish and build quality are top notch!
The weight feels just right to counteract the magnetic strength but not feel insecure. The divits fit the controller perfectly and the part that holds the puck is perfect as well. Because the puck is now facing you instead of the ceiling, the range is also greatly improved when sitting far away like in a couch PC setup.

By far the best stand for charging and displaying your steam controller. Excellent build quality with clean wire management, and a perfectly weighted base, with no need to support stand when removing from magnetic dock. Already recommended to a few friends. GREAT JOB GUYS!!
Excellent product as always. Quality is good and aesthetic is spot on.
There are minor imperfections on the top plastic piece (as shown in the picture), but you won't ever notice them, especially when your controller is docked.
I like the rubber strip that goes around the bottom to prevent it from sliding around. I agree it would be great if it didn't move an inch when you pulled it straight from the pug. For this to be feasible, it would need to be significantly heavier because of its design and the strength of the magnets. Not many people are willing to pay for that, so I understand the compromise.
I thought of 3D printing my own, but I do have a 3D printer, and even if I did, it would not look as good as this one. If Mechanism modifies the design to a 5 pound chunck of black steel as their base, or find a way for it to move less when I grab it with ough thinking of tilting it, I will buy another one for my second controller.
This is my first purchase from this company, and I look forward to seeing what other Steam hardware related producst they come up with.

Only thing that's a little disappointing is it can't wake the Steam Deck from sleep like it can when the puck is directly connected, but it connects just fine when its already on so not a dealbreaker by any measure
Haven't tested to see if it changes the latency at all but from preliminary testing it feels just fine
Overall, I'm fairly happy with it. The dock looks nice, is well-built, and holds the puck well. There is one issue that prospective buyers should be aware of. You can still pick up the dock fairly easily with the controller itself, even with a cable attached to the dock.
If you pick up the controller vertically without tilting it off the puck first, the dock will come with it. Mechanism might have been able offset this by adding more weight to the base. That would have added cost, especially in shipping, but IMO it would have been a worthwhile tradeoff.
When I purchased the dock, I had hoped this would not be the case. I understand that the Steam Controller Puck has strong magnets, but I'm surprised and a tad disappointed that this was not found or addressed in product testing. It is possible to detach the controller without the dock lifting by first tilting it upward, but the exact motion will take a bit of practice and muscle memory to develop. The back edge of the dock still frequently lifts off the table.
That being said, I'm still happy (even if slightly disappointed) with the dock overall. It is well though-out in every other respect.
Hey there, you're exactly right! The way the Puck has to sit so far from the base while the controller is vertical causes a really tricky design issue. With the magnets in the puck sitting so high, it creates a pretty strong moment arm (just like how when you push a door it's easier to push it open from far away from the hinges). This means you would need an exorbitant amount of weight at the base to be able to grab the controller off from the top end of it. Luckily, if you grab it from any part of the bottom half of the controller, it changes the forces to a much more favorable direction. All that to say, if you grab it from anywhere on the bottom half of the controller or grip FIRST, then tilt it away, the base will stay put!
A great looking stand that does what it says. Could ise a little bit of polish around the plastic connector parts as that part doesnt look as nixe as the aluminum bits.
This Steam Controller stand looks and feels premium. Very happy with my purchase. A perfect addition, whether its to supplement your Steam Machine or just to hold your controller next to your PC. Highly recommended.

The base is so much nicer than I had originally anticipated. It's a high quality item that easily beats 3D printing it myself.

The Steam Controller fits perfectly, feels secure in the dock, and looks far better sitting neatly on the desk than lying around. The dock feels sturdy, doesn’t take up much space and gives the controller a proper home.
