Inventory Sling Bag

After having this bag for a few months and traveling with it, bringing it with me nearly everywhere; I can say my original review was a bit harsh. It's definitely a waxed fabric, just not the quality I'm used to. My complaint about the size, however, was completely unfounded. Everything fits so snuggly, and without undue pressure on any delicate parts. I never worry about a slight tumble, knock, or bump. By design, I'm sure. The fabric protects quite well from any spills. As you can see from the pictures provided, I can fit quite a bit inside this bad boy. I swap between the Steam Deck and the Logitech G Cloud (shown) regularly, using the included "taco" with both. The integrated mechanism mounts are just icing on the cake. Highly recommend this bag for the Steam Deck or Logitech G Cloud. I don't recommend it for the PlayStation Portal. If my upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 fits and I can utilize the rest of the little pouches for game carts, well, that'd just be swell. 🤞 Kudos Mechanism, team.

This bag is so well designed, so thoughtful in it's layout and features, that in any other situation I'd be giving it 5 stars. Alas, it's unfortunately 10% - 20% too small. Everything fits, but I can't help but feel like I am squeezing the life out of my Steam Deck when I have my kickstand, backup battery/charger (Anker 733 power bank), USB hub, and a plethora of cables, screen wipes, and USB adapters all packed in. With that said, the storage options are amazing and plentiful. I just wish it was a tad larger. At a premium price I am allowed to nit pick. Oh, and waxed canvas this is not. It's possibly canvas, but if it is waxed it must have been done with earwax.

The Inventory Sling was something I was on the fence about at first, but decided to get. I am so glad I did!

Up until this point my kickstand has been sitting loose in my old everyday carry, and the old bag was a bit slim in its space, but this one is much better! I opted to remove the taco (which is super nice that it can be removed) and opted for stick savers so I can pack extra stuff in the main compartment. My partner now uses the Taco for backpack storage because it’s such a nice protector!

The exact contents in the bag now is:

- iPhone 15 Plus with rugged case and magsafe wallet
- Anker Power Bank
- Genki Shadowcast 2
- Steam Deck Power Adapter
- Kickstand
- Wired IEMs

The amount of versatility this thing gives me is astounding!

I would only say that it isn’t perfect for one reason. It needs literally 2mm on each side more of length. The Deck OLED barely fits. I took out the foam taco, I have a Jsaux killswitch, it doesn’t add much to it maybe a half mm of thickness, but it just barely closes. It’s perfect in every other way. This is me being super picky because of the premium price.

Bought as a gift for my husband - he likes the case the Steam Deck comes with so I wasn't sure if he'd like this one but he does! High quality make, easy cable management/storage and portability were big pluses compared to other options.

The only thing the OEM Steam Deck case does better is be somewhat more rigid. It's otherwise crappy without modification (no where to put anything else, including a power cord, without additional stuff it doesn't come with.)

This is around the same size, has a carrying strap, and holds a ton more stuff. Really high-end construction. You can see it in everything Mechanism makes: they care about the results, the actual daily use of the thing. It's not about selling you a product, they're providing solutions.

I've tried a few different cases and none have compared to this one. The ease of getting my deck in and out has been great. I think the only qualm I have is that the way the straps are designed it doesn't sit as well on my body as other bags.

This is a great bag with a thoughtful design. It's made from high-quality materials and built to last. I can fit my Steam Deck with the Killswitch travel cover attached inside the main compartment with the foam taco inserted and the outer pouch still has enough space for my charger and earbuds. If I remove the foam insert, I can also carry my 65-watt power pack.

The crossbody design is comfortable, and the strap is easy to adjust or remove. All of the strap hardware feels very solid. The bag looks as well as it perfoms, too. Time to step up from the original case and get a serious gaming bag!

Love the bag, doesn’t scream teenage gamer, feels I can bring it anywhere with me. Good for traveling as well. Lots of space for other stuff besides my ally x

Not only is the bag beautifully designed and well put together, the people behind it are amazing. Helped me with a delivery issue to get a replacement out. Can’t recommend this bag enough!

Happy about the mechanism integration although the cappacity of the pockets can benefit from a change. I am having to pick and choose from my most essential grips and mounts as well as ordering a charger with a smaller form factor (I am only able to fit a kickstand and three cords plus an adapter with a small foot print). Other wise the bag is a great addition tothe steam deck ecosystem, I cannot wait to see how it handles the steam deck two!

I had been eyeing the Inventory Sling Bag since I first discovered the Mechanism site. I finally talked myself into it to get more mileage out of the Deck. Zero regrets. This bag is a masterpiece. It is sturdy and made from quality, heavy-duty canvas and smooth YKK zippers. It is elegant, with clean lines and stitching, plus a discreet little Mechanism brand tag. The bag is very roomy, with that "foam taco" to cushion the machine, or removable to give you more space for carrying other stuff with it, but your Deck won't get banged around in it.

The genius, however, is in the details. There's a soft fabric lip around the inside of the zippers to cushion the top of the Deck. There's an inner pocket in the outside accessory pocket to hold a battery pack, with a USB cable passthrough port and another inner zipped pocket for small, loose items like SD cards or carrying boards, adapters, loose change, etc. The strap has a Mechanism mount, as does the inner pocket to stow your kickstand or other accessories.

I have been able to take my Deck with me more often and get way more use out of it since I got the sling because it's so secure. Get this bag. You need this bag.

This is a really great bag. I take it everywhere, regardless of whether or not it's carrying my Steam Deck, which it's incredibly good at. The design is very well thought-out, and very durable, the straps and canvas material feel very high quality.

I really love the charger pass-through flap and front zipper pocket compartments are super handy. I haven't found much of a use for the grip on the strap yet, but still, it's good to have.

It's also just very stylish looking. The tan and black is a great color combo. I get a lot of compliments on it, and people are always surprised that it's actually a carrying case.

This is not the first sling bag I've bought for my steam deck but it is probably the last one I'll buy. I had a cheaper steam deck bag from a pretty well known brand and the bag was nice enough but it just felt too big for my needs and didn't feel well organized for my usage. I was hesitant to buy this bag when it was only available in white, but as soon as they announced it in black I was sold. This bag is just the right size. I don't carry a lot of extra with me in my sling and I mostly only use the when Im running around with my kids to their various activities. This is just the right size for my deck, keys, wallet, air pods, and allergy meds. Very happy with it.

You can believe the photos they offer of their product. The bag is well made, can be organized in multiple ways so your gear rides the way you want it to, and is comfortable to wear

Was looking around for a bag that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb (aka Gamery) for local travels, and this fits the bill. Color is very elegant, fits my Steam Deck, a battery bank, small headsets with ease.

If I have one complain, is the bag needs to be like 2mm bigger and 2mm taller for people using cases like myself for Steam Deck users. It fits already without the foam inside but it is a tight fit, just need a little bit of room. Maybe some other colors or just a black version.

I have 4 kids, so leaving my Steam Deck laying around was tempting fate. Having this bag to protect it and keep all of my accessories bundled together has been great. Exactly what I (didn't know I) was looking for!

Fits the basics. Wish I could stuff a large batter and the phone mount in it but the nice material won’t stretch much. Great quality though and a wonderful looking bag if you’re taking your device out for short stints.

I hate to give this bag 2 stars because it is a very nice bag and has some great features. The color and accents look really nice! There's a lot of pockets. There's the clips inside and outside the bag for the kickstand. There's a passthrough hole between the main and front pocket for charging. So you can have a battery pack in the front pocket and steam deck in the main pocket. Brilliant! There's a lot to love about this bag.

But what brings the score down for me is there is no padding on the sides of the steam deck. If I'm going to spend $70 on a travel bag for my steam deck, I would hope there's the same amount of protection we get for the free case that comes with the device. What makes this worse for me is I also bought a $50 bag to compare the two and not only does this other bag provide more protection than this mechanism bag but it also has space for a controller. I'm bummed because I was hoping this bag would be the winner for me because I want to support smaller businesses like Mechanism and have fun place to put my kickstand but unfortunately I'm going to have to go with the cheaper bag that has more protection.

This may not be an issue for some people. It's a great bag and it does offer some protection if you're careful with the bag and steam deck. It's high quality and looks great. But if i have my SD in this bag attached to my suitcase or just carrying it, and I'm running to my flight terminal and drop it, there's a big possibility the deck will get damaged.

Siri/DeckMate/Mechanism is a good dude. He's been good to me with other products so I hope he reads this and is able to make changes to this bag

fits my deck, a keyboard, mouse, charger... everything id want to have right there with it. the strap is pretty neato too

Great bag! Unfortunately, my sister got concealer all over my bag after my first use :sob: I really like this bag. I will order another one!

Fantastic bag that feels premium and durable. It fit both my Steam Deck and my OLED Switch, although it was a little snug. The adapter on the strap is kind of funky, and I haven't found a real use for it yet, but hopefully something pops into mind.

Solid and quality build. Not a ton of storage but just enough for what it needs to carry. Not worried about anything getting broken in it.
